Let's Go Over This Again:

Friday, October 26, 2007

I knew I was bad with money, but I had no idea I was this bad. (and in this case, please feel free to use the Michael Jackson interpretation of the word)

1) Power Bill - Paid 3 times this money, balance= negative $102.00

2) Cable Bill - The bill online says that I owe $166, but when I check my current balance, the bill is $6.83, which I paid, immediately.

3) Laptop Bill - This is the most confusing. So, I bought a laptop in January, on credit, through the stores retail credit system, through a 3rd party bank. Since purchasing the laptop, I was making payments on the credit to the bank in question, up until the last payment which was a few weeks ago. Recently, I got a slip of paper saying that the bank rejected the last payment. Fearing the worst (NSF), I called the bank, only to find out that the credit was paid, in full, in April, and that the balance was now $0. I called the head corporation to double check this, after going through my bank statements, which did not uncover a $1300 payment in April. They said the same thing. I decided to not look a potentially gift horse in the mouth, and say "Okay, then, I'd like to close the account, seeing as how I no longer owe you any money.", and hung up the phone.

So, what happened? It is possible that I paid of the credit, but unless I have a disassociative disorder, I do not remember having a spare grand hanging around that I could pay off the debt in full. Now, the company who sold me the computer has closed up shop. I can't exactly remember when it was, but I wonder if they paid off the bank on their retail accounts? Could it be they paid off my computer? I have no idea, but I believe that unless I hear otherwise, I will assume that both my financial and karmic banks are now at 0, and maybe even a little in the black.

Today is Going to be a Good Day.

1) Because September was such a cluster fuck of craziness, I over paid the power bill. Three times.

2) My boss invited me to go to a fancy fundraiser with her tonight, and this morning told me I was her hero.

3) The first three referrers today were

"kiss daddy tonight" + milkshake (having read the book, and knowing it is about incest, I find this query a little, well, queer.

"gemini+sheep" (I didn't understand this at all, until just now. I am also a gemini (astrological sign) and a sheep (chinese zodiac). This may be my soulmate!

and, my favourite....

"why+does+my+three+year+old+still+hold+my+breast" Heh, this may also be my soulmate. Atta boy, kid.

Mr. Wonderful Revisited

Friday, October 12, 2007

This should probably wait until our FOUR YEAR anniversary, but there are some gems in this list that were took good to not comment on. You can see the original post here.

1. He has a monster throbbing manhood. Ha. Fair enough, this is still true.

3. He acted out a scene from the Matrix the day we met. I actually had to re-enact this scene for me, as he had forgotten.
4. He looks really good in a suit. This is definitely still true. He actually wore my dream outfit of jeans and a suit jacket, but I wasn't around to appreciate it.
6. He has nice, big hands. Yes, though he is now comfortable enough with me to go sockless, exposing his wonky, deformed pinky toe.
7. He smells good. Usually. Except for the constant farting.
12. He gives the best hugs. Alright, but not all of the time. He tends to over-squeeze, so I have to punch him in the arm to relax his grip.
14. He makes me feel beautiful. Well, sometimes. Now, it's more that he doesn't run screaming when I look like an unholy mess.
16. He has a good job. Yah! I'm so happy this is still the case. Finally! Double income household!
17. He is ambitious. Yes, which is sometimes scary when I think of the implications.
19. He helps me do dishes. Grr. Sometimes. But we've split up chores, and he knows when I've done more than my share and he'll pitch in. But the dishes are... a constant battle.
22. He holds my hand. We've met in the middle; I can sneak an arm around his while we walk.
24. He has a very good vocabulary. I had to teach him what "pretentious" meant.
25. He helps me with my French. Not really directly, anymore, but I learn by going to his work things and chatting with his coworkers.
30. He carries my suitcase for me, even if it's too short for him. This isn't really an issue anymore, but he will pull the grocery cart home if my hands are full.
31. He shaved off his mustache after I said I didn't like them (maybe that isn't the reason, but I still think it's cute). Upon further consideration, it turns out I prefer him with a mustache and beard, which has kept for the last few years.
37. He can do really great impressions. The latest of which has been the George Clooney Face. Priceless.
40. He is an outdoorsman. Sure, he can pitch a tent (har har), but he did nothing but complain about being cold at the lake over Thanksgiving.
41. He giggles when he farts. Four years later. HE STILL DOES THIS.
42. He appreciates my breasts. Maybe even more so.
46. He buys me flowers. Well, like...3 times.
59. He likes animals. I didn't realize how much he really likes our cats, but sometimes I really do think he thinks of them as our children.
62. We can talk a lot to each other. He acts very macho about "talking" to each other, like a "couple", but I know it's important to him.
66. He remembers dumb things I say. And still brings them up. FOUR YEARS LATER.
67. He snores, sometimes, but not as bad as me. I'm not so sure about this anymore. In consultation with other people I've slept with (platonically), I think we're probably close, he's just an extremely light sleeper.
68. He makes for a good human snowplow. Still, very handy.
73. He sometimes acts like a 4 year old boy. Which can be both endearing and annoying.
82. He's got an eye for interior decorating. OH HELL NOW. Our living room looks like a preschool, and he has a gigantic cardboard 'clock' that MUST GO.
87. He even acted out a scene. And it was really funny. I won't tell you which one, though. Okay, yes I will. It was the one when Stewie is feeding from Peter's breast, then notices a hair and realizes it isn't Lois.
93. He is a good gift buyer. Oh dear. Well. It's hit and miss. It's important to be specific.

Fourteen Reasons Why I Love My New Job

  1. It has to do with sex. Duh.
  2. I don't feel as guilty if I accidentally say "retarded" (which is really once in a blue moon).
  3. I get to work downtown, which means good walks at lunch, and not starving if I forget my lunch.
  4. The building I work in has art hung all over the place.
  5. Options of where I want to grab my morning coffee.
  6. The people I work with are genuinely awesome.
  7. I feel valued.
  8. My boss and I are on the same page about most things, and we both enjoy bad TV.
  9. No one cares if I'm 10 minutes late.
  10. I'm totally okay with staying late or putting in extra time in the evenings or weekends.
  11. There's also a cat in the building named Clarence.
  12. There is a vinyl store here, and they usually play decent music.
  13. I don't have time to spend countless hours online goofing off (still, sometime, but near as much as before).
  14. People tell me when I'm doing a good job.

Gettin' There

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

I think when I look back on this year, this will be the year I finally consider myself "older". As in adult.

No particular reason, really. Just a lot of small ones. I now see the real difference between myself and "youth". I'm not sure if it's wisdom or smugness, but I often think to myself when I hear younger people speaking.. "you'll see...".

Now that I am full time in my good job, I think I feel much more comfortable. I can let the horsies run a bit further, a bit harder with a little more security. Things aren't perfect, but they are good.

Still hectic, though. September was an absolute blur. Seriously. No recollection. As in, I totally forgot to pay both my student loans, and the cable bill. Ooops. Did you know that the charge for Insufficient Funds is now $80? Hey, I do! Wee!

October and November will still be hectic. And, in November, in case you all don't know, my sister/mother to my niece/nephew to be will be getting married, in Ottawa. That will be a blast, and I am so not envious of her right now. Wedding bs is madness, I tell you.

And then it's Christmas. Eep.
